Submitted By: Peter Mandell: I have been reading American Prospect magazine for the last two years and find it a refreshing alternative to the usual news and current affairs. Published weekly, with their embedded reporters in Iraq, and their White House reporters are more interested in maintaining their most favored status at press conferences than real investigative reporting. Especially in recent years, The American Prospect provided well written, thought provoking articles for any reader interested in getting a balanced alternative to the mainstream press. The writers and subject matter are often controversial, but almost always important to consider better understanding current events and how it affects domestic governance and the world view of the US. This is what “investigative reporting" is supposed to be, before the so called Fourth estate was bought out by commercial interests. A worthwhile read for any involved American who wants to know the story behind the administration press releases.
